Extra Curricular Clubs

Educational activities outside the more formal curriculum can have a significantly positive influence on your child’s classroom achievement.

The work done in these activities often has a marked effect on happiness as well as feelings of success and self-worth, feelings that can and often do cross over directly into more formal lessons, thus making pupils more effective and confident learners.

We offer your child an extensive range of extra-curricular activities and we always try to vary what we offer according to age, interest and need. Different activities available throughout any given year may include:

  • Sports, games and adventurous outdoor activities
  • Creative ventures (music, drama, dance, film and the full range of arts)
  • Residential events and trips abroad
  • Theatre trips, field work and visits to art galleries, museums and places of interest
  • Homework clubs (facilities and support to do homework)
  • Study clubs (linked to or extending curriculum subjects)

  • Space and support for coursework and exam revision
  • Opportunities for voluntary activities in the school or community
  • Opportunities to pursue particular interests (Science, IT, languages)
  • Learning about learning (thinking skills, accelerated learning)
  • Community work (environmental clubs)

Extra-curricular activities take place during lunchtimes or after school and are normally organised and run by staff.  Several clubs are run by outside organisations and experts, for example, University of Hertfordshire and Welwyn Tennis Club.
