Careers guidance is available to all pupils and their parents and is provided by our Career advisor, Mrs Chamberlin. Mrs Chamberlin provides support and advice and organises visits by outside agencies and speakers. She delivers a comprehensive careers programme within the PSHE and Sixth Form curriculum.
The Careers Department develops an Enterprise programme for Year 8 and also Year 11, sets up a programme and advice to support the pupils when they choose their GCSE and A Level options, prepares the pupils in Key Stage 4 for the Certificate for Working Life, supports in conjunction with the Hertfordshire Careers Service the organisation of work experience for Year 10 pupils.
For University application, there is a rigorous process organised jointly by the Deputy Head, Head of Sixth Form, Years 12 and 13 form tutors and the Career Advisor. We also work very closely with the Hertfordshire Careers Service. Arrangements are made for students to attend careers conferences and university open days. Sixth form students have a weekly Careers lesson and in the Summer term of Year 12 and Autumn term of Year 13, have regular bespoke one to one sessions to assist with their university or employment choices and to receive guidance with their Personal Statement.
