Art that really Pops!
Year 7 have been studying Pop Art and looking at Andy Warhol and his "Coke Bottle". Using Ben Day's" Dot technique", made famous by Pop Artist Roy Lichtenstein's work, they incorporated them into their paintings of Warhol's Coke Bottle.
They started by using a stencil of dots, a stencil brush and acrylic paint, which gave an impasto effect. Next, they draw a coke bottle from life, focussing on the patterns made by the light hitting the bottle. Paint was then added in the style of Andy Warhol. Once dry, the bottles were cut out and stuck on top of the dots. Year 7 then used oil pastel to give shadow and depth to their paintings
