Sherrardswood vs Northbridge House Netball (A)

This was a fast and well fought netball contest between Sherrardswood and Northbridge House, both teams on both courts played with determination and passion, none of them wanting to lose.

During the first quarter we had some excellent interceptions made by our defence, Monica (GK), Summer (GD) and Annabel (WD) at the end of the first quarter the score was close. The girls trailed by 4 goals and were able to claw back the score line. By half time the score was 7:9.

Sherrardswood made some positional changes throughout the match, which saw our Centre court players Lexi, Millie, and Robin regroup and maintain possession. Sherrardswood remained confident throughout the game.

The Final Quarter became end to end fast and furious play with our shooters on fire Annabel (GS) and Hannah(GA) who were outstanding in the attacking circle and kept scoring the goals against a pair of very physical defenders and we won the final quarter of the game.

The final result was 13:15, a brilliant, consistently well fought match played by both teams, well done girls.

Sherrardswood vs Northbridge House Netball (B)

For most of the girls that played on Thursday’s match this was their first ever Netball match. It was wonderful to be able to organise and encourage all the girls to play. After a washout start of the week I was unsure whether the match was going to go ahead but with a dry spell the girls were able to play.

From the off the girls fought hard and excellent interceptions from Lara(C), Zoe (GD) and Angelina (GK) meant that we were able to keep toe to toe on the score line and move the ball up the court to our shooters Bianca (GS) and Paige (GA). With control and poise they were able to hold their nerves and score equalisers during the first half of the match.

The girls fought hard throughout the second half of the match when tiredness struck they kept on working hard to intercept the ball. With accurate shooters from Northbridge House, it was difficult to hold them off. Everyone played with such enthusiasm throughout the whole game and were a credit to Sherrardswood with the other school complimenting the girls on their attitude and game play throughout.

Yr 9/10 Football vs Kings – 2-5

Sherrardswood played some lovely quick passing football for large parts of the match, but lapses in marking and a dose or two of bad luck, saw Kings’ chances converted.  The boys started at a blistering pace and a cross from Layton was almost met by Ted at the far post.  Shortly after, a brilliant run and strike from Layton gave Sherrardswood the lead.  Jack provided some excellent deliveries from the other side of the pitch, but Kings had the lead at half time.

A slow start in the second half saw a big deficit emerge, which the boys fought hard to rectify.  They had several well-made chances, but they just couldn’t finish them to level things up.  We snatched a second half consolation, but the boys are keen for a rematch to prove a point!
