Young Enterprise at Sherrardswood

On Thursday we welcomed Arconic and Young Enterprise to Sherrardswood as they ran a Gifted and Talented event for local Sixth Formers.  The event was designed to challenge the students and the task was to come up with ideas for environmentally friendly transport solutions.  We were joined by students from Onslow St Audrey, Monks Walk and Stanborough, as the students worked in teams to come up with ideas.
The atmosphere in the room was electric (like the cars that they were designing!) and the amount of work that the students produced during the day was fabulous to see.

The presentations put forward by all of the teams were outstanding; our team focussed on an electric bus system and safer cycling routes.  The Onslow St Audrey team suggested P.O.D.S (Personal Overhead Distribution Systems), essentially an overhead underground system and the judges deemed this to be the most innovative.  They were invited to present again tomorrow at the international competition, via Skype.  I very much look forward to hearing how they got on.  The Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield was present at the end of the day for the presentations and to award certificates
