We are currently looking for a One-to-One Learning Support Assistant to join our team in Welwyn.

Applications are invited from caring and inspirational individuals to work as part of the Sherrardswood team, supporting and developing the individual talents of our young students.  Working as part of a dedicated and professional staff our learning support assistants work with individual children to ensure that they are supported to be able to access the work set by teachers in delivering a broad and well-structured curriculum.

About the Position

The One-to-One Learning Support Assistant will be responsible for supporting all areas of the school. Including but not limited to:

  • Encouraging pupils to take responsibility for their own learning, and take pride in their work
  • Personalise resources to meet the needs of an individual or a small group
  • Give support for increased self-esteem, self-confidence, and emotional skills development by encouraging pupils to build on existing effective relationships to share ideas and opinions with peers and adults
  • To work with the SENCO to ensure that the requirements of any EHCP are kept at the forefront of all planning for individual children
  • To assist with the class teacher in the effective delivery of the curriculum, under their guidance
  • To provide regular feedback about the children to the teacher and SENCO
  • Where appropriate, to develop a relationship to foster links between home and school
  • Part of this role will involve safeguarding responsibilities including the reporting of any safeguarding concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Team
About you

We are looking for someone who can be a role model to our pupils through personal presentation and professional conduct. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience with children, preferably within an educational context
  • Knowledge of various special educational needs
  • A genuine enthusiasm for working with children
  • A positive attitude
  • The ability to be flexible to the needs of the students

Contract Type: Full time, Permanent

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 8:30am till 3:30pm

Salary: Dependent on Experience
