Housekeeper

Sherrardswood School is seeking two reliable, diligent, and proactive Housekeepers to join our dedicated team. These are important roles that help maintain the high-quality learning environment our pupils and staff enjoy every day.

We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to keeping our school safe, clean, and welcoming.

About the Position

Contract Type: Permanent, Term Time + 4 Weeks

Hours available: Two positions — 30 hours per week or 35 hours per week, applicants may express a preference when applying.

Salary: £12.21 per hour

Start Date: Immediate Start Available

About the Role

As a Housekeeper, you will play a key part in ensuring our school facilities remain clean, hygienic, and well maintained. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out daily cleaning tasks with accuracy and efficiency, including vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, and sanitising bathrooms and kitchen areas.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness in all assigned areas.
  • Ensuring bins are emptied daily and recycling procedures are followed.
  • Replenishing consumables such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels.
  • Supporting cleaning following school events.
  • Assisting with deep cleaning projects during school holiday periods (Summer and Easter).
  • Reporting stock requirements and any maintenance or safety concerns promptly.

About You: We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous housekeeping or cleaning experience (essential).
  • Shows strong attention to detail and takes pride in their work.
  • Is physically fit, with the ability to lift and move equipment safely.
  • Has a friendly, positive approach and can communicate well with staff and pupils.
  • Works effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Is reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards.
