Welcome to Sherrardswood Nursery

Sherrardswood Nursery is where children aged 2 to 4 discover, learn and play in a safe, nurturing environment — set in 25 acres of Hertfordshire parkland. We take children from age 2, with dedicated provision for our 2–3s (Hedgehogs) and 3–4s (Badgers). Experienced teachers work closely with every child, giving the kind of individual attention a large nursery chain simply cannot.

We’re not a chain — we’re a school. Every nursery child is guaranteed a place in our Reception, and the start of an all-through journey to A-Level in one happy, familiar place.

More than a nursery — a full school from day one

Specialist learning most nurseries can’t offer. Subject-specialist teachers, Spanish, Dance, Forest School and PE — from age 2.

A real school from day one. Lunch in the dining hall, whole-school assemblies, a place in wider school events, and full access to our facilities and grounds — with the routines that make starting Reception effortless.

Care that works around your week. Breakfast Club and After School Club, so the day fits family life.

Forest School from age 2

Few all-through schools offer Forest School at all, and fewer still from nursery. Whatever the weather, our youngest children learn outdoors — building confidence, curiosity and resilience in the woodland and parkland on their doorstep.

Outstanding value, funding accepted

Day rates from £89 per day, and we accept government-funded hours. Independent nursery education, Forest School and a guaranteed Reception place — for less than you might expect.

Flexible days

Half-day or full-day places, with flexible pick-ups at 1pm or 3:20pm. 

Holiday camps all year

Camps at Christmas and Easter, plus four weeks in August, for ages 2–6 — led by our own nursery team, so children always see familiar faces.

A guaranteed place in Reception

Every nursery child moves up into Reception automatically — no second admissions process, no moving on at 4.
