Progression into Prep School

For our Badgers (3–4-year-olds), we recognise the importance of making the transition into Prep School as easy as possible. That’s why we provide settling visits at the end of term, as well as meeting the teachers. For those who many need additional support when settling, we provide a transition of need tool.

Throughout the school year, our Nursery children are introduced slowly into whole school events, including assemblies, sports days, and thematic days. This is furthered through free flow, in which children can go into Reception, where they can get accustomed to the teachers and class environment in a natural manner whenever they wish.

We also host a Teddy Bear’s picnic during the summer term, where all new children and parents can take the opportunity to spend time in the setting with staff, children, and parents.

Here’s what our parents are saying about Sherrardswood Nursery:

‘Our son really enjoys coming to nursery every morning. The setting and environment he is in is always engaging, well thought about and cared for. We know he is well looked after by all and never worry when he is there. We are kept very well informed about his learning and future topics, which enables us to encourage him at home and keeps us well aligned with his learning at nursery and with us.’

‘I really appreciate the thought and care that has been shown towards my child, it is so touching and comforting to know that you are all so ready to go above and beyond!’
