Culture

Cicero understood culture to be the highest possible ideal for human development. At Sherrardswood, we believe that a rounded education involves experiencing and understanding the multitude of ways an individual can express their ideas to others and, by doing so, communicate more profoundly and completely.

Evidence of students’ creativity is seen in the vibrant displays of art work on the walls of corridors around the school. Music has been a strength of the school for many years with the school possessing a dedicated music block for students. There are also many concerts and events for students to be involved with, whatever their level of musical ability or taste in music.

There are many opportunities to perform before audiences in school and in the community; whether students are on stage or responsible for tasks such as scenery, lighting, or costumes, everyone has a chance to take part and develop their individual talents. There is a busy programme of performances, displays and outings throughout the year.

The very best learning for life is rooted in cultural awareness where compassion, tolerance, awe and wonder work together with knowledge and skills to ensure that our students become well rounded, caring citizens.
