Sherrardswood School is seeking an inspiring and knowledgeable Biology Teacher to join our thriving Science department. This is an excellent opportunity to teach across Key Stages, with a focus on Biology at A Level and Science at GCSE, within a school that values academic excellence, curiosity and personalised learning.

As a Biology Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching across the Science curriculum, fostering a strong understanding of biological concepts and encouraging pupils to develop curiosity about the natural world.
Science Teachers at Sherrardswood are expected to teach across the Science curriculum up to GCSE, alongside their subject specialism.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Teaching Biology at A Level and Science across Key Stages, including GCSE
- Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured and differentiated lessons
- Monitoring, assessing and reporting on pupil progress to ensure strong outcomes
- Creating a positive and respectful learning environment that supports pupil achievement
- Taking on form tutor responsibilities, supporting pupils’ academic progress and wellbeing
- Contributing to curriculum development and departmental initiatives
- Participating in wider school life, including extracurricular activities, trips, open days and school events
About You
We are looking for a teacher who combines strong subject knowledge with a passion for inspiring young people. You will bring:
- A degree in Biology or a closely related subject
- A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE)
- Experience teaching Science, with the ability to teach Biology at A Level and Science at GCSE
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate pupils
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- A commitment to inclusive teaching and supporting pupils with a range of learning needs
- A proactive and collaborative approach to working within a team
