Sherrardswood School is seeking an inspiring and knowledgeable Physics Teacher to join our thriving Science department. This is an excellent opportunity to teach across Key Stages, with a particular focus on Physics at GCSE and A Level, within a school that values academic rigour, curiosity and personalised learning.

As a Physics Teacher, you will play a central role in delivering high-quality teaching across the Science curriculum, inspiring students to develop a deep understanding of scientific principles and a genuine enthusiasm for the subject.

Science Teachers at Sherrardswood are expected to teach across the Science curriculum up to GCSE, alongside their subject specialism. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching Science across Key Stages, with specialism in Physics at GCSE and A Level
  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the needs of all learners
  • Monitoring, assessing and reporting on pupil progress to ensure strong outcomes
  • Creating a positive and respectful learning environment where pupils feel supported and challenged
  • Taking on form tutor responsibilities, supporting pupils’ academic progress and wellbeing
  • Contributing to curriculum development and the ongoing success of the Science department
  • Participating in wider school life, including extracurricular activities, open days and school events

About You

We are looking for a teacher who combines strong subject knowledge with a genuine enthusiasm for education. You will bring:

  • A degree in Physics or a closely related subject
  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE)
  • Experience teaching Science, with the ability to teach Physics at GCSE and ideally A Level
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to motivate and inspire pupils
  • Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to inclusive teaching and supporting pupils with diverse learning needs
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to working within a team
