Teacher of Mathematics (GCSE & A Level) – Full Time, Permanent

Sherrardswood School is seeking an inspiring and committed Teacher of Mathematics to join our successful and forward-thinking department. This is an excellent opportunity to teach across Key Stages, supporting pupils from early secondary years through to GCSE and A Level in a school that values academic excellence and personalised learning.

As a Teacher of Mathematics, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching across the curriculum, fostering a strong understanding of mathematical concepts and encouraging pupils to develop confidence and resilience in their learning.

Mathematics teachers at Sherrardswood are expected to teach across the Maths curriculum up to GCSE, with the opportunity to teach A Level depending on experience.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching Mathematics across Key Stages, including GCSE and A Level
  • Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured lessons that meet the needs of all learners
  • Monitoring, assessing and reporting on pupil progress to ensure strong outcomes
  • Creating a positive and disciplined learning environment that supports pupil achievement
  • Taking on form tutor responsibilities, supporting pupils’ academic progress and wellbeing
  • Contributing to curriculum development and departmental initiatives
  • Participating in wider school life, including extracurricular activities, trips, open days and school events

About You

We are looking for a teacher who combines strong subject knowledge with a passion for inspiring young people. You will bring:

  • A degree in Mathematics or a related subject
  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE)
  • Experience teaching Mathematics, with the ability to teach at GCSE and ideally A Level
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate pupils
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A commitment to inclusive teaching and supporting pupils with a range of learning needs
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to working within a team
